Vinnytsia advocates the efficient use of energy and resources, as well as stimulates the economic growth of the community and Ukraine as a whole. This was stated by Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov during his speech at the Central European Energy Conference 2023, which is currently taking place in Bratislava. The mayor of Vinnytsia presented the best practices of the community on the way to preserving the environment to experts promoting the Green Deal.
"Among those present are representatives of the European Parliament, the European Commission, as well as experts from international energy organizations and diplomatic missions. We have the opportunity to discuss cooperation with specialists who promote the idea of the Green Deal in Europe and are the first to get access to information about grant or donor programs dedicated to environmental preservation and restoration," said Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov.
The main topic of the international conference is energy security and climate policy in Central Europe in the context of the development and implementation of the European Union's policy. It is about the Green Deal, which aims to achieve climate neutrality and decarbonization.
"On the eve of the great war, our community became the first in Ukraine to officially join the European Green Deal, and despite the challenges, we continue to implement our commitments, because this area should remain among the important tasks if we want to preserve a clean environment for future generations," said Serhii Morhunov. "To achieve results, we need to take a comprehensive approach to all areas of the community's socio-economic life. Especially when it comes to the post-war recovery of Ukraine and our future European integration. We are working to gain new knowledge from our European partners and implement joint projects."
The panels discussed the transition to clean energy, which would significantly reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Experts began to see increased enthusiasm in this direction in the context of russia's war against Ukraine. In their opinion, the transformation of the energy system will require enhanced policy coordination and new regulation.
