In order to respond more quickly to residents’ enquiries and emergency calls in high-rise blocks, the teams at the municipal enterprise ‘Vinnytsiamisklift’ have been provided with an additional vehicle. It was donated to Vinnytsia by its Lithuanian twin town, Panevėžys.

The enterprise’s specialists work daily in various areas of the community: they maintain the lift infrastructure, repair faults, respond to emergencies in buildings, and transport the necessary tools, spare parts and equipment. The enterprise’s new minibus will help organise these call-outs more effectively and reach places where help is needed more quickly.

The vehicle was donated as humanitarian aid to support the work of the municipal enterprise. It is a second-hand vehicle, but is in good working order and suitable for daily use.

“Thank you to the municipality and community of Panevėžys. This is not the first time our Lithuanian partners have supported Vinnytsia since the start of the full-scale war. We greatly appreciate this solidarity. In times of war, every decision like this is of great significance,” said Serhii Morhunov, Mayor of Vinnytsia.

Panevėžys remains a reliable partner for Vinnytsia; they have a good understanding of the challenges Ukraine and our community are currently facing.

“The decision to donate the vehicle was taken unanimously by the Panevėžys municipality. For us, it is not only the aid itself that is valuable, but also the fact that our partners take a constant interest in the community’s needs and support us through concrete actions,” says Andrii Shportun, Deputy Mayor of Vinnytsia.

Vinnytsiamisklift is not only responsible for lift maintenance. The enterprise’s specialists also provide an emergency response service for in-building water supply and drainage networks. This includes leaks, blocked drains and other situations where it is vital to arrive on site quickly and have the necessary equipment to hand.

"Mobility is crucial to our work. Every day we make call-outs to different parts of the city, transporting tools, equipment and spare parts. The van is compact, manoeuvrable and convenient for working in the courtyards of high-rise blocks. It has enough space for ladders, cables and other equipment. This will help us respond more quickly to residents’ requests and carry out both emergency and scheduled work,” says Serhii Kovalchuk, chief mechanic at the municipal enterprise 'Vinnytsiamisklift'.

Cooperation between Vinnytsia and Panevėžys has been ongoing for many years. Our Lithuanian partners provide humanitarian aid, support social initiatives and host children from the Vinnytsia community on holiday.

“We sincerely thank our twin city, Panevėžys, for its support and care for the children of our community. For them, this trip offers new experiences, socialising, relaxation and the chance to spend part of the summer in a friendly atmosphere,” concluded Andrii Shportun.

As a reminder, children from the Vinnytsia community are currently on holiday in Panevėžys. Cooperation between the cities has been ongoing for many years and covers various areas – from humanitarian aid to support for social initiatives.
