In Vinnytsia, Children from Vulnerable Categories Receive Chromebooks Donated by British Volunteers from Peterborough

The initiative was joined by the Department of Social Policy of Vinnytsia City Council, the Vinnytsia City Council's Service for Children, and the Vinnytsia City Centre for Social Services. According to Valentyna Voitkova, Director of the Social Policy Department at Vinnytsia City Council, caring for children is a priority for the city council, so specialists from the city's social structures support boys and girls in need on their own and in cooperation with international partners.
‘On 13 November, Ukraine and the world celebrate the Day of Kindness, so we decided to hand over the chromebooks to children today,’ says Nataliia Dobrovolska, director of the Vinnytsia City Centre for Social Services. ‘We distributed one hundred units of technology to children whose families need additional support and often cannot afford such expensive gadgets for their children. We are talking about orphans and children deprived of parental care, families in difficult life circumstances and those who moved to Vinnytsia because of the war - internally displaced persons. We hope that the chromebooks will be useful to these children, as it is almost impossible to do without technology in the modern world.’
Tetiana and her daughter Olha arrived in Vinnytsia from Bakhmut in April 2022.
"I am studying to become a clerk. When I was in my first year, we were immediately told that it was desirable to have laptops for studying. Unfortunately, I didn't have such equipment at the time, so I used only my phone. Of course, it was not very convenient. But now I have a chromebook for studying, and I will download electronic textbooks, make presentations, and complete assignments,’ says Olha.
The chromebook was also given to 6-year-old Artur along with his two brothers and sister. The family belongs to the category of those in difficult life circumstances.
"I don't have any online lessons, I will watch cartoons and play online games on my Chromebook. I dream of becoming a blogger, I will talk about games,’ says Artur.
