This day took to the streets tens of thousands Vinnytsia residents, and many guests and leaders of the country President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman came to congratulate them on the holiday. Together with Mayor Serhii Morhunov they opened the festival.

Congratulating residents on the City Day, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko mentioned what was the city like 15 years ago, what it became today, and named Vinnytsia European, tourism and innovation capital of Ukraine. "Today, not only tourists come to Vinnytsia, people come here to learn – how to open a Transparent Office, which first was established in Vinnytsia, when there was no experience and no one knew how to do it; to learn how to build boilers and trams, how to  recycle waste, and it is very important. Vinnytsia authorities demonstrate throughout Ukraine, throughout Europe that it is effective and can solve problems. Now we need to solve problems throughout Ukraine, and for that we have launched decentralization," said Petro Poroshenko.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman admitted that Vinnytsia is still a home for him. "I am extremely pleased to be at this stage to congratulate on its birthday the city that we love, the city that we live in, the city in which we start a family, the city in which we feel truly at home. I remember very well what Vinnytsia was like 10 years ago when its residents expressed confidence in our team that we together with you could build this city as it is now. I remember how hard it was for us, but we were always optimistic, believed that we would succeed, would develop the city. It was not an easy way, but we were on it. Today we have many problems, we have huge challenges and it is not easy, but I believe in the successful future of our Ukraine, our home. It depends on us how we live today and will live tomorrow. Welcoming each of you, I wish you peace, prosperity and success."

"Today is truly a wonderful day – we once again celebrate the birthday of the best city, home to the best people. Thank you all Vinnytsia residents for the mood that prevails today in Vinnytsia. We have the great honor as we celebrate this holiday together with people who are patriots and who love our hometown – our countrymen President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groisman," said Mayor Serhii Morhunov. "Our Vinnytsia develops dynamically. We do not stand still, we move forward and implement our development strategy Vinnytsia-2020. We construct new parks, school stadiums, road junctions, new trams. And it is possible to make for all of us together because after two years of decentralization reform local communities have more powers and financial resources to implement plans for further development."

This year's birthday of their hometown Vinnytsia residents celebrated not only with top officials of the state, but also with many guests. Among them, Vinnytsia friends from other cities, many international visitors from Canada, Sweden, Poland, Israel, Romania, Lithuania and others.
